Tribute to Mother

A picture memory brings to me;
I look across the years and see
Myself beside my mother’s knee.
I feel her gentle hand restrain
My selfish moods, and know again
A child’s blind sense of wrong and pain.
But wiser now, a man gray grown,
My childhood’s needs are better known.
My mother’s chastening love I own.

Stories from the week

Working with numbers is equally thrilling as learning the ways of the lady bug. Our little Gardens Nook children have developed a keen sense for counting, whilst recognising amount, and matching groups to digits. Developing numerical relations helps children conceptualise abstract forms, creating a deeper understanding for patterns, method, and reason.

Our dear grade R's have transitioned from tasting the esteemed celery to diagramming its delicate form. Who knew celery would be such a loved subject? Our grade 2's demonstrate their ongoing dedication towards beautiful transcription. Much care and structure govern the formation of each and every letter.

During art classes, we are seeing glimpses of work coming to completion. It always pleases the soul to witness such beautiful work - children surprise even themselves by what they are capable of when mind and heart go into good work. As a result, children come to know their hand and learn to manage fine movement to achieve diversity in tone, stroke, and style. By grade 7, our children are experiencing a genuine passion for art in its various forms.

Special Persons day has been much on our children's radar over the past week. They are ready to share their well-rehearsed recitations, readings, and some lovely songs. We look forward to having our grandparents and special persons join us on Monday 18th May.

Community notes

Soccer

We applaud our girls soccer team for fighting hard during their Thursday soccer match against Phyllis Jowell primary school. It was a tough game, but they stood their ground and played well. Well done girls!

Grandparents & special persons day - Postponed

A nasty storm is predicted for Sunday and Monday next week. Mindful of all the grandparents and special elderly traveling from afar, we have decided to postpone our morning to Monday, 18 May. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.

To reserve attendance, please follow this link.

Parking during drop-off and pick-up

We are sincerely asking parents NOT to park in front of the vehicular gate on Vriende street. This is a working gate for both school and church staff. Any delays in entering the gate cause prolonged traffic congestion. Please respect this request.

Prayer

Coming weekly to the Lord, we commit the following to Him in prayer:

  • wisdom in dealing with our children's weaknesses
  • gentleness in handling difficult situations
  • gratitude for all the provisions the Lord has freely given us

Something to ponder...

"Motherhood: All love begins and ends there."

Wishing you all a wonderful Mothers Day,
